A case of excessive generosity was on display in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, when a class X boy distributed Rs 46 lakh of his father’s money among his school friends on friendship’s day. He gave out a substantial amount to a daily labourer’s son who received a sum of Rs. 15 lakh, while Rs. 3 lakh was bestowed upon his friend who had apparently finished his homework, said media reports.
The boy’s father is a builder by profession and had reportedly kept the amount in his cupboard after he sold a property worth Rs 60 lakh. He found the amount missing and immediately took up the matter with the police. The police were initially baffled at how the robbery occured as they were no signs of a burglary.
The police started investigating and they found out through the probe that it was the builder’s son who had taken the money and distributed it among his friends. One of the kids was reported to have bought a new car with the money given by the boy. The daily labourer’s son went missing soon after receiving the sum. The boy’s other friends got smartphones or silver bracelets as gifts.
“The boy’s father has given us a list of students and we are trying to contact all of them. Parents of five students, who got the biggest shares, were summoned by the police and were told to return the money within five days. No case has been registered so far as all those involved are minors,” SI B S Tomar told The Times of India.
The police have begun efforts to retrive the amount from the parents of the kids who were given money.
