Rules are all set to change for the delivery of LPG gas cylinders. Starting today (November 1, 2020) if users have a subscription to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) gas cylinder. If they have been getting new LPG cylinders home-delivered? They will have to follow the new rules imposed from today.
All LPG customers across the country will now need to furnish a one-time password (OTP) in order to get the home delivery of gas cylinders. Oil companies have implemented a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) for the customers who need gas cylinders at their homes. The new system will act as an additional layer of security and help in better distribution of LPG.
This will first be implemented in 100 smart cities. The pilot project is already in use in Rajasthan’s Jaipur city.
The rules are quite simple when an individual book the LPG cylinder. He or she will get a code on the registered mobile number. They have to show this code to the delivery man. This would ensure that the delivery is not made to an incorrect person.
Here’s all you need to know about it:
1. Under the new DAC system, delivery shall only be completed when the customer shows the code/OTP generated and received through their registered mobile number.
2. Subscribers won’t be able to take gas cylinder from a delivery boy without confirming OTP.
3. In case the customer’s mobile number is not updated, the delivery guy with the help of an app will update in real-time and generate the code.
4. Customers whose details, i.e. the address, registered mobile number is incorrect would face difficulties and delivery of their gas cylinder can also be stopped.
5. After 100 smart cities, it shall later be expanded to other cities.
6. The system will not apply to commercial cylinders.
7. Moreover, the address and mobile number of the customer need to be accurate for LPG cylinder home deliveries from November 1 across the 100 smart cities in the country.
