Ghatkopar plane crash Live Update: Investigative agencies recover Black Box
A chartered plane that was mistakenly claimed to have belonged to the Uttar Pradesh government, crashed near the BSNL telephone exchange building in Ghatkopar. Fire brigades were rushed to the spot. Authorities had confirmed that at least five people, including a pedestrian, have lost their lives in the crash. The plane that crashed was earlier said to be owned by the Pan Parag group. The plane was supposed to land in Juhu.

Authorities earlier confirmed that at least 4 people were on board the plane. 2 pilots, 2 technicians on board the plane that crashed. Crashed plane owned by UY Aviation, UP government had sold the aircraft to UY Aviation in 2014. Owner’s name is Dipak Kothari, reports CNN News 18.
A DGCA probe team was on its way to the spot for preliminary investigation as the causes need to be identified. AIIB- Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau will conduct a detailed probe. DGCA said all 4 people on board were dead: 2 pilots and AMES. This was a test flight, it added.

“The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau will conduct a detailed probe into the crash. A DGCA team is already on its way to the spot,” Director General of Civil Aviation BS Bhullar has told PTI.

Pilot, three passengers, one pedestrian killed in the crash. Aircraft was leased by Pan Parag tycoon. Rescue operations are still underway by NDRF and Mumbai fire brigade team, News18 reported.

Ghatkopar police station and fire brigade team together recovered four charred bodies. Since it is an under construction site, labourers may have been trapped under rubble, a resident told CNN-News18.
“The explosion was so loud that we later got to know that it was a plane crash. A pedestrian has been charred to death and he is lying on the footpath,” a witness added.

Black box (flight recorder) recovered from the plane crash site at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar. There are speculations about the female pilot taking a swift decision and swerving away from the residential complexes into an open area to reduce casualties. The recordings shall reveal further details.

All the parts lay strewn accross the crash site and rescue operations have now been stopped as there seems to be no one left in the plane to rescue.
