French champions Paris Saint Germain continued their record-breaking domestic run with another victory as an early Edinson Cavani strike helped the defending champions extend their streak to 14 victories in as many games. The 1-0 victory against Toulouse on Saturday was a new record in terms of consecutive wins at the start of a league season.
PSG remain on top with 42 points from 14 matches, 15 clear of the next best placed Lyon, who beat St-Etienne by the same margin. They have 27 points after the same rounds of games.
Uruguayan striker Cavani scored his ninth goal of the season with a quality finish after Di Maria’s powerful effort just nine minutes into the match popped out of Toulouse goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet’s hands. It landed for Cavani, whose skilled control left Kelvin Amian on the floor before the striker romped home to put the home side ahead.
But the victory was far from being comfortable for the reigning champions, who were already missing stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe after both had picked up injuries during the international break. Without their two biggest stars PSG’s attack misfired, surprisingly against a team battling relegation.

Toulouse may be at the 15th position but they showed little fear against the league giants and produced some breathtaking attacks of their own.
The introduction of substitute Jimmy Durmaz helped the visitors built-up several counter-attacks but none of them produced the desired results.
Meanwhile, the game also saw the return of side-back Dani Alves, who came on as a second-half substitute ending a six-month spell out the field, following a knee injury that forced him to sit out of Brazil’s World Cup squad in Russia.
PSG next face Liverpool in a must-win encounter away from home in the Champions League. Both Neymar and Mbappe are expected to make a return for that match after sitting out on Saturday.
