An injury-time strike by David Lalrinmuana helped Aizawl FC hold Mohun Bagan to a 2-2 draw at the Salt Lake stadium on Saturday. This was Bagan’s second consecutive win this season as they now have two points from as many games.
Star man Sony Norde gave Mohun Bagan the lead in the 69th minute to take them 2-1 up with a victory in sight. But not many would think that the spoils eventually would be shared between both the sides. It was from a curling effort from a distance of 32 yards that Lalrinmuana which helped salvage a draw for Aizawl against Bagan who were well on their way in clinching all three points for the very first time this season.

Yet it was Aizawl FC who took the lead in the 29th minute when Mapuia but the Kolkata giants found an equaliser just before the break through Lalchhanhima in the 43rd minute. But the crowd at the Salt Lake stadium erupted into cheers when Mohun Bagan coach Shankarlal Chakraborty introduced Norde–one of Bagan’s heroes in their 2014-2015 I-League winning campaign.
Just five minutes into his introduction, the Haitian winger showed just why he is such a revered figure in the city, especially amongst the Mohun Bagan fans when he cut through the Aizawl defence and sent the ball into the corner.
Mohun Bagan would seek for a change of fortunes come November 10 when they take on the Indian Arrows in an away fixture.
