Last in the league but bags numerous awards – Delhi Daredevils
Loads of awards is what the filthy IPL presentation ceremony is all about. Throughout the season we saw many useless awards like “star plus nayi soch” but the final ceremony saw some good categorical awards.
Its quite amazing that teams that ended at the bottom also managed to bag some awards. Which again takes us to the fact that IPL is all about small margins. Team ending at 8th position actually does not deserve being at 8. Those are just numbers.
Speaking about the awards, Delhi managed to bag 3 big ones.
Emerging player of the season – Rishabh Pant
Perfect catch of the season – Trent Boult
Stylish player of the season – Rishabh Pant
As years pass, Rishabh Pant has kept on impressing with his brutal hitting. This year he scored a wonderful ton. Delhi Daredevils retained Rishabh Pant and that proved to be the only good decision throughout the season. Trent Boult did justice with his role but that wasn’t enough to take them to the playoffs. What impressed many about Trent Boult was the difficult and absolutely unbelievable catch to dismiss Virat Kohli at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Appointment of the Aussie legend along with KKR’s former skipper Gautam Gambhir couldn’t make much of a difference for the double d’s. They again find themselves at bottom of the ladder. Its high time that Daredevils convert those individual performances into a collective effort and display a different performance in next year’s IPL.
