A video of Kiran Bedi and AIADMK legislator A Anbalagan arguing on stage on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti has gone viral on social media. The verbal spat between Puducherry governer Kiran Bedi and AIADMK MLA took place in Uppalam in Puducherry on Tuesday.
The argument began when Anbalagan in his address criticized the functioning of Kiran Bedi, despite she was present on the stage. The MLA has claimed to have done nothing under Kiran Bedi in Puducherry. Bedi and MLA were at an event organised to declare Puducherry an open-defecation free state.
In his speech, he has listed out some projects which were promised but have not seen the day of light. After listening to his objection, Kiran Bedi reached out to him and asked him to leave from the stage.
However, the MLA refused to budge. He kept arguing with his allegations against her and criticising her functioning.
Noticing that MLA is not ending his speech, Kiran Bedi ordered to switch off his mic, angered by the same, the MLA started shouting at the Lt Governor Bedi. She can be seen in the video requesting him to leave the stage. In return, MLA asked her to get down from the stage instead.
This was not the first time that the MLA has accused Kiran Bedi of not functioning and delaying development work in the union territory. He also accused of Bedi of trying to drive a wedge between elected representatives and the people.
Anbalagan had also alleged that the Kiran Bedi delayed the approval of cabinet decisions once they were placed before her and added that this affected the development works in Puducherry.
Following the event, Kiran Bedi has issued a statement reading, “According to the minute to minute program, the MLA was not even scheduled to speak. He compelled his way before the start of the function to be a part of speaking schedule. Once the presentation program was over he came to the mic and went on and on beyond reasonable time when there was a long program to follow.”
