Kim Kardashian West has finally broken her silence about her husband Kanye West. She has asked the media and public to show “compassion and empathy” during the trying time for the family. Kanye West launched his presidential campaign Sunday. However, his speech at the rally has raised concerns about his well-being. The rapper made a rambling speech where he made comments about abolitionist Harriet Tubman, revealed he had wanted to abort his now seven-year-old daughter, and broke down in tears.
Moreover, he also gained attention for his tweets that stated that he had been trying to get a divorce from wife Kim Kardashian West for a while. He also accused his wife and her mother of trying to lock him up.
Finally addressing these series of events, reality star Kim Kardashian West wrote on her Instagram story that she was reluctant to speak publicly about her husband’s illness “because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy.”
“But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” she added.
Kardashian West said in her post: “Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behaviour know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor.”
“People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”
She also stated that Kanye is a “brilliant and complicated person who on top of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother … has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder.”
“Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions.”
