Kim Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr., has tested positive for COVID-19. It is reported that while Kim, who is also a Trump campaign official, attended the president’s July 4 kickoff address but she was not in contact with the president.
Sergio Gor, chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee, said in a statement: “After testing positive, Kimberly was immediately isolated to limit any exposure. She’s doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she’s asymptomatic, but as a precaution will cancel all upcoming events. Donald Trump Jr was tested negative, but as a precaution is also self isolating and is canceling all public events.”
The Times has reported that Kim Guilfoyle did not exhibit any coronavirus symptoms before the rally. The former Fox News personality is not the first person in Trump’s close circle to test positive for COVID-19. Katie Miller, Vice President Mike Pence’s spokeswoman, also tested positive for COVID-19 in May.
Kim Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. were expected to attend a July Fourth celebration at Mount Rushmore. This event is expected to have thousands in attendance and has raised concerns about the spread of COVID-19. It does not follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Moreover, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has stated that there will be no social distancing at the event.
“We told those folks that have concerns that they can stay home, but those who want to come and join us, we’ll be giving out free face masks, if they choose to wear one. But we won’t be social distancing. We’re asking them to come, be ready to celebrate, to enjoy the freedoms and the liberties that we have in this country,” Noem said in an interview with Fox News.
