Kerala nun who is making headlines since media reported her repetitive sexual assault by a Jalandhar based senior Roman Catholic priest Franco Mullackal. Now, this Kerala nun’s case took a turn when her brother accused the bishop of offering Rs 5 cr to withdraw her complaint.

Four Kerala nuns have been protesting outside Kerala high court seeking justice and demanding the arrest of the bishop, who raped her 13 times. According to the report, the brother said that a relative of Franco Mulakkal and two other priests approached his friend and conveyed that they are willing of Rs. 5 crore if the nun withdraws her complaint.

According to the source, a high-level meeting is likely to be held today ahead of Kerala High Court’s hearing tomorrow. A notice will also be issued to summon the accused bishop and decision will also be taken, whether he should be arrested or not.

While the Kerala High Court has asked Police for details on the step taken as part of the probe into the alleged rape case. The nun, the victim is said to be in her late 40s, who was raped by bishop Franco Mullackal 13 times during between 2014 and 2016. She petitioned the Vatican alleging that the bishop is using “political and money power” to bury the case.

According to her, Franco Mulakkal and his close associates “are using the wealth of the diocese to divert” the course of the police investigation.

The Kerala High Court asked the police to clarify if the bishop was questioned and what steps had been taken after the police questioning. The court has also sought to ask the details of the provisions made for the protection of the nuns.

Kerala Police blamed the Kerala flood crisis for the delay and claimed, all possible efforts will be provided to protect the nuns.

The German Catholic has denied the allegations made by the nun and claims that he has been targeted for taking disciplinary action. Speaking to ANI the bishop said, “I feel there are people who are against the church, they’re using these sisters. This is a conspiracy and several people are taking advantage of the situation, they are putting sisters at the forefront,” Franco Mulakkal, accused of allegedly raping a nun, said. Speaking of the interrogation in the rape case, he also said that there were many contradictions in the nun’s statement.”
