Kerala motorist Asbak Mon dies of thirst in Rajasthan desert
A biker was found dead in the Jaisalmer region of Rajasthan after he had apparently lost his way while exploring the area, the police informed on Saturday.
Asbak Mon, who originally hailed from Kerala was reportedly part of the “India Baja” off-road adventure rally, which was supposed to be flagged off on Saturday. But Mon was found dead on the morning of Friday with his bike lying on the ground beside him.
“The post-mortem examination report stated that the biker had died of dehydration,” Superintendent of Police Jagdish Chandra Sharma was quoted as saying by NDTV. “We shall inquire the organisers, his colleagues, and teams as our next point of action,”
His body was found at the Shahgarh Bulj area, around 200 km away from Jaisalmer, and his water bottle was empty.

The Police further added that Mon had come from Bengaluru to participate in the bike rally and had gone out on an adventurous journey on his own on Thursday, said a report in the IANS.
“When he did not return, we collaborated with police and sent our parties to search for him,” said a member of the organiser quoted the NDTV.
“It seems that Asbak Mon had lost his way while the other members who also visited the locale returned. It seems he was exhausted with water he had and hence feeling dehydrated, he had fallen from his bike and later did not wake up as there was no water left in his body,” the police officer said also adding that a case of doubtful death has been registered after the post-mortem report had come.
His body was handed over to his wife and his father-in-law.
Mon ancestrally belonged to Kerala’s Kannur district but at the time of his death was living in Bengaluru and came to Rajasthan on a two-day trip for the rally. He worked with a private firm.
