A Kerala court on Tuesday framed charges against six youths for trying to carry out terrorist activities in parts of southern India. These youths are allegedly associated with ISIS and are suspected terrorists, informed NIA official statement.
Based on the information regarding the youths with intentions of furthering the objectives of the proscribed terrorist group in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the investigative agency filed a case on October 1, 2016. The statement said, “The youths had got together and formed an ISIS terror module named Ansarul Khilafa-KL over social media platforms and had made preparations to carry out terrorist attacks against prominent persons, including judges, police officers and politicians, and also against foreign nationals and rationalists.”
Soon after the case was registered, the NIA officials arrested six youths associated with the case, when they organised a meeting at Kanakamala in Kannur district of Kerala. Also, the NIA arrested another module member last year, after his deportation from the UAE, reports NDTV.
According to the probing agency statement, chargesheet was filed against the alleged terrorists — Manseed Muhmood, Swalih Mohammed, Rashid Ali, Ramshad N K, Safvan, Jasim N K, and Shajeer Mangalassery — under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code on March 29, 2017. Also, separate chargesheet was filed against ISIS operative Subahani Haja Moideen alias Abu Jasmine who had travelled to Iraq/Syria in April 2015 and fought for ISIS, the statement said.
