Kerala Assembly passes resolution seeking withdrawal of farm laws
Kerala Assembly passes resolution against Centre's three farm laws
The Kerala Assembly has today passed a resolution against the three farm laws passed by the Central Government. The resolution says, ‘farmers’ genuine concerns should be addressed and the Centre should withdraw all three farm laws. The unanimous resolution passed by the Kerala Assembly seeks withdrawal of the contentious farm laws.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan while presenting the resolution at the Assembly session described the farmers’ agitation in New Delhi as one of the epic proportions. He also termed the farm laws pro-corporate and anti-farmer.
He said, “The country’s capital is witnessing an epic agitation of the farmers. There is outstanding will behind this agitation and is something that wasn’t visible in the recent past. It’s a pro-corporate and anti-farmer farm laws that the Union government passed in the Parliament. It’s in the chilling winter of Delhi that the farmers rally behind the grand protest. Farming in our country is not solely a producing sector but part of our culture. Hence the reforms at the farm sector should be conceived and implemented with an extra vigil.”
The resolution was moved in a one-hour special session convened solely to discuss the farmers’ issue. It was also to express solidarity with the farmers protesting against the contentious laws.
