The tiff between the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s office on who controls the Services department is still not over, even after the Supreme Court ruling a week ago. Though both the government departments exchanged letters on Monday, nothing fruitful came out of it and now Arvind Kejriwal is going to knock the doors of Supreme Court today, again.
While Kejriwal accused Baijal of implementing the Supreme Court judgment ‘selectively’, LG reiterated that the AAP government’s interpretation was ‘erroneous’ and Kejriwal was ‘selectively’ quoting from his letter. Though the Delhi government has remained tight-lipped on whether or not they would approach the apex court, counsel of the government is all set to file a petition in court.

Informing about the Delhi government’s plan, counsel Rahul Mehra tweeted, “Will be mentioning the matter first thing tomorrow morning before Hon’ble SC with a request to dispose of all our appeals, including the one on ‘Services’ at the earliest possible.”
Alleging that the delay is a conspiracy against the AAP government, party spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “This is a conspiracy to try and delay the government from being able to function with full freedom, with the ultimate aim of trying to keep matters in limbo until the model code of conduct comes into place before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.”
Since Wednesday, after the Supreme Court judgment on the division of powers between the L-G and the Delhi government, the issue of under whose jurisdiction Services department comes, has been a bone of contention.
