Two terrorists have been shot down on Thursday by the security forces as part of a joint operation in the Bandipora region in Jammu and Kashmir, according to information from the police.
A police official said that a cordon and search operation was launched in the Hajin area after they received information about the terrorists being present there. The Army, the CRPF and the local police jointly carried out the operation. The police also said all the arms and ammunition have been recovered. The search operations are still going on.
“On the basis of specific input an operation was launched in Hajin by Army, CRPF & Police. Two terrorists have been killed and search operation underway. Arms and ammunition have been recovered,” SGP Pani, IGP Kashmir, as quoted by NDTV said.
Pani also said that what began as a search operation turned into a gunfight after the terrorists started firing towards the security forces.
Reports from India Today state that an attack had four policemen were killed in the Shopian district in Kashmir a day ago. Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were also gunned down in Anantnag.
