Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor in Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’

Karan Johar on Wednesday posted a cryptic video on Twitter as he promised moviegoers an announcement on Thursday. Well, the filmmaker has finally made the big announcement and it is all about the sequel of his hit flick ‘Dostana’. The movie that gave Priyanka Chopra the much loved tag of ‘Desi Girl’ will have Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor in the leading roles.

‘Dostana 2’ is written by Navjot Gulati, Sumit Aroraa, Rishabh Sharma and Collin D’Cunha. It will mark Collin D’Cunha’s directorial debut. The third lead is still not revealed, reportedly a newcomer will join Kartik and Janhvi, to complete the triangular romantic-comedy.

2008 film Dostana was directed by Tarun Mansukhani and starred Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in lead roles.  The story of the movie was woven around the life of two men (Abhishek and John) who pretend to be homosexual to share an apartment with a girl (Priyanka) and eventually fall in love with her.

On the work front, Janhvi will be playing the lead role in the upcoming Gunjan Saxena biopic. She will also be seen sharing screen space with Raj Kummar Rao in ‘RoohiAfza’. On the other hand Kartik will be starring in Imtiaz Ali’s next directorial alongside Sara Ali Khan. He will also be playing the male lead in the remake of ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ co-starring Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar.
