‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language romantic period action film directed by Anil Sharma and set during the Partition of India in 1947. The film starred Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel in lead roles alongside Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey. Recently, the film completed 20 years of its release. Did you know ace-comedian Kapil Sharma was a part of the film? Yes, you read that right!
According to a report in Prabhat Khabar, a scene of the film was being shot in Amritsar, where Kapil resided at that time and his father was then in the police force and was on duty on the sets of the film and that’s how Sharma reached the shoot location set with his father. At the same time, there was a rumor that Sunny Deol is also at the shoot location, however, Deol did not come.
Further, Sharma said: “Amrish Puri and Ameesha Patel were shooting for a scene. I also had a friend with me. We were told that as soon as the action is called, we will have to run away and board the train. Ameesha Patel tried to board the train twice but she could not. Later we came to know that he did not even have to board the train. I had boarded the train two or three times. But I felt that my scene would not be able to come in the crowd.”
Lastly, Kapil stated that the director was standing on the jeep and telling about the scene and that is when he saw an empty space and ran to grab it and gave him a sweet slur. “I told him that when you spoke action, I ran. They chased me away; I ran into the crowd again. The film released, and I took my friends to the theatre to show me my scene. My scene was cut.”
Reportedly, Kapil revealed this in his talk show, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show.’
