Kannada actor Sharmiela Mandre and friend injured in car crash in Bengaluru
Popular actress and producer Sharmiela Mandre seriously injured in car accident
Popular Kannada cinema Sharmiela Mandre and her friend, 35-year-old K Lokesh Vasant, suffered injuries in the accident. The duo were out during the lockdown in the wee hours of Saturday. They were injured after it crashed into a pillar under the railway underbridge in Vasanthnagar. Mandre, 33, reportedly suffered a hairline fracture in the jaw while her friend ended up fracturing his hand.
The Joint Commissioner of police(traffic) BR Ravikante Gowda said that the accident took place around 2.30 am. He said that the police received a message about the accident and on reaching there they found the wrecked jaguar. They later found out the injured were shifted to Fortis Hospital on Cunningham Road. On reaching there the injured claimed that they had met the accident at JP Nagar.
Police circles say that since there is a lockdown in Bengaluru due to the coronavirus pandemic actress Sharmeila and her male friend Lokesh Vasanth had violated the rules by speeding in their luxury car. They had also crashed into public property damaging it.
The Bangalore Mirror report said that a case has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 134B of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Actress Sharmeila Mandre is the granddaughter of legendary producer R. N. Mandre and niece of producer Sunanda Murali Manohar who has bankrolled blockbuster hits ‘Jeans’, ‘Jodi’, ‘Mnnalae’ and ‘Dhaam Dhoom. Sharmiela is known for her roles in films like Sajni, Kevvu Keka, and Shivamani, among others.
