Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Prakash Kovelamudi’s drama-comedy Judgementall Hai Kya which also featured Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. Currently, the actress is prepping for Thalaivi, the biopic of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. A few days back, the makers dropped the trailer of the film and it was appreciated a lot by the audience. Now, as per the recent reports, Ranaut’s Thalaivi has landed into legal trouble.
As per the reports in The News Minute, the Madras High Court granted the late leader’s niece Deepa permission to file a civil suit against the makers of the film as well as a web-series directed by Gautham Menon which is also based on Jayalalithaa’s life.
Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa said in her affidavit that neither Vijay nor Menon took her consent and that they do not have any legal right to depict the life of Jayalalithaa on celluloid. he said that it can affect her late aunt and her family’s privacy.
Further, speaking about the same, she said, that the producers want to make the film only for financial gains and she wants the makers to ask for her permission and submit the entire script to her.
Thalaivi will be released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu on June 26, 2020. The biopic will trace her journey from films to politics. Apart from Kangana, the film co-stars Jassie Gill, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chadha, Neena Gupta and Rajesh Tailang in key roles.
