On the occasion of Kangana Ranaut’s 43th Birthday the makers of Thalaivi have unleashed much awaited trailer. The actress appears quite intriguing in her new avatar. She is seen portraying the role of late politician, J Jayalalithaa. The film traces the real life events from Tamil Nadu’s Thalaivi’s life and Kangana is surely promising doing the part. The actress in her recent conversation revealed how she opened up to the makers about her casting being disaster.
The film showcases the journey of Jayalalithaa from becoming a superstar to stepping into politics and empowering women. At the trailer launch event Kangana opened up that, “Thalaivi is the main focus of my life right now. This journey would have not been started if Vijayendra sir had not recommended me. For the first time, I got recommended for a role. Usually, I get recommended only to get thrown out of films. So, for the first time, a man recommended me for a film. But I was very much apprehensive about taking on the role. I’m not very familiar with the politics in Tamil Nadu and even the film industry for that matter.”
She then says that she asked the director Vijayendra about why they think that she was good for the role? To which he replied, “You just do it”. “ I told sir, ‘It will be a big disaster.’ Because when the casting is wrong, the film only goes downhill after that. But the way he was confident about it, it gave me a lot of strength and I thought let’s give it a try,” further said the actress.
For the unversed, Kangana Ranaut appears to have worked on several skills to portray J. Jayalalithaa. The former TM CM was multi talented- she was a trained dancer, regular reader, fluent in multiple languages and also a successfull actress of her era. The actress had to learn such skills in order to do justice for the role. Apparently she also had to gain weight to shoot few chunks in the movies.
