Expressing his opinion on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakhas (branches) — situated in almost all villages of the country, Noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi on Thursday stated that they can serve as a firewall to protect children, especially girls.
Satyarthi said that women in India are rippling with fear, threat and insecurity at home, workplace, localities and public places today. He also added that this situation is a ‘grave disrespect towards Bharat Mata’. Speaking at the RSS Vijaydashmi event in Nagpur — where he was invited as chief guest — he said, as quoted by Indian Express, “Youth from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) can take the lead on this path for saving the present and future of our motherland.”
He further added, “If the shakhas (branches) of the sangh situated in almost all villages across the length and breadth of India serve as a firewall to protect this generation of children, then all the generations to come will become self-sufficient in protecting themselves.”
Stating that children, especially girls, are not safe even in the shelter homes, he said, “Those who are entrusted with the responsibility of running shelter homes for girls are raping and murdering them.” He also said that no respectable society can be built without compassion.
