Sophie Trudeau, wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The office announced the news on Thursday night. The released statement said that the first lady of Canada was feeling unwell and would remain in isolation. Justin Trudeau also took to social media to share the news of his wife testing positive for the Coronavirus.Sophie Trudeau had returned from a speaking engagement in Britain with flu like symptoms which included a fever.
Justin Trudeau will be in isolation for 14 days
Thankfully, Justin Trudeau has shown no signs of being infected with the Coronavirus. However, he will be in isolation for a period of 14 days as a precautionary measure.
“The Prime Minister is in good health with no symptoms. As a precautionary measure and following the advice of doctors, he will be in isolation for a planned period of 14 days,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the doctor has advised the PM to continue with his daily activities while self-monitoring. In addition, he will not be tested at this stage as he has no symptoms.
“Also on the advice of doctors, he will not be tested at this stage since he has no symptoms. For the same reason, doctors say there is no risk to those who have been in contact with him recently,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Sophie Trudeau issued a statement to thank those who reached out to her after the news.
“Although I’m experiencing uncomfortable symptoms of the virus, I will be back on my feet soon,” she said. “Being in quarantine at home is nothing compared with other Canadian families who might be going through this and for those facing more serious health concerns.”
