Justice will be done for Hafiz Saeed: Syed Akbaruddin
Syed Akbaruddin, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador, has clearly said justice will be done for Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. He said that the ghastly terror won’t be forgotten and he won’t be forgiven for that. “Justice will be done in the case of Hafiz Saaed and the country will not forget or forgive what he did,” Syed Akbaruddin said on the sidelines of a conference on Tuesday.
While speaking at a press conference, Syed Akbaruddin said as a developing nation India’s major needs will always be internal. “India’s major needs as a developing country will always be internal. Given that we are a country of a billion plus, every aspect of our public diplomacy would be towards improving our internal conditions,” India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador said.
Syed Akbaruddin also put out the biggest challenges the country is currently facing. “The big challenges facing India are climate (change) and sanitation and there is no shame in acknowledging that we need to improve. I have not seen any diplomat before 2014 stood up to acknowledge our shortcomings,” he added.
He also felt that currently efforts are being put in to “improve ourselves that is the face of changing Indian diplomacy”. The Representative listed out the efforts that are put forward by India in using soft diplomacy as tool.
