Jammu and Kashmir: Hurriyat leader Hafizullah Mir shot dead in Achabal area
On Tuesday morning, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) district president Hafizullah Mir, was shot at by terrorists in South Kashmir. It is reported that terrorists barged inside Mir’s residence in Akingam area of Achabal, and fired indiscriminately. Mir had sustained critical gun shot wounds and was evacuated to nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, later.
While confirming the death of TeH leader Hafizullah Mir, medical superintendent district hospital Anantnag, Dr Abdul Majeed Mehrab said that Mir had been hit in chest and abdomen.

Earlier, in a statement released a few days ago, TeH had alleged that Hafizullah Mir was receiving life threats over the phone, reported Greater Kashmir.
A spokesman of TeH had said, “Since last one month some unknown people [were] suspiciously roaming around his house and at times knocking the doors and windows and inquiring about Mir Hafizullah that makes the whole family frightened.”
As reported by Times Now, Mir’s wife also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Police said that it has registered a case under relevant sections of law and initiated investigation in the matter. It is believed that Mir was reportedly released from jail last month after serving a two-year term.
