Sheikh Waseem Bari a BJP leader, his father, and brother were killed by terrorists in J&K’s Bandipore district. The attack took place at around 9 PM while they were sitting outside a shop near the local police station. All three suffered injuries in the attack. They were rushed to Bandipore district hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Jammu Kashmir police tweeted,
Sheikh Waseem Bari was a former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bandipora district. Bari had ten personal security officers to guard him. But at the time of the attack, none of them were present. They were sitting on the first floor of Bari’s house, which is adjacent to the shop. All ten of his PSOs have been arrested.
Director-General of Police Dilbagh Singh said, “The police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of the law and an investigation is in progress. The men deployed for his security are being detained for negligence under the Police Act. The area has been cordoned and search is going on.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone enquired about the killing and extended his condolences to Bari’s family, said Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh.
A team of state police and army personnel have launched a manhunt to nab the terrorists.
