JioPhone Next postponed to be launched before Diwali this year

Reliance Jio and Google partnered to launch the much anticipated 4G phone i.e. JioPhone Next. Earlier this year Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani announced that the company has been planning to launch this phone soon. JioPhone Next was earlier expected to be launched today (September 10). Now the company is said to have postponed the launch date to Diwali. It is expected to be launched before Diwali festive season. 

Reliance Jio is apparently testing this new phone with a limited count of users. In a joint press release the company stated that “this additional time will also help mitigate the current industry-wide, global semiconductor shortages.” The press release from the Reliance Jio stated, “Both companies have begun testing JioPhone Next with a limited set of users for further refinement and are actively working to make it available more widely in time for the Diwali festive season. This additional time will also help mitigate the current industry-wide, global semiconductor shortages.”

Owing to the several challenges the global semiconductor chip shortage has impacted the automobile, PC, and smartphone industry.

JioPhone Next’s features reportedly include 4G compatibility, voice assistant, automatic read-aloud of screen text language translation, smart camera with augmented reality filters alongside other interesting features. As per the leaked information the phone to be launched for Rs. 3,499 in India.
