Indian Actress Jiah Khan, who entered Bollywood with “Nishabhd” beside Amitabh Bachchan, committed suicide on June 3, 2013. It was reported that Jiah took such a drastic step after allegedly fighting with her then-boyfriend and actor Sooraj Pancholi. After five years of her death, Sooraj was charged with abetment to suicide on January 31, 2018. Even now the case has not been settled yet.
Now as per reports in Mumbai Mirror, a famous British Television Broadcaster is planning to make a three-part documentary series on Jiah’s suicide case. The team is already in Mumbai and they have started their work on the documentary. One of the film’s co-ordinators stated to Mumbai Mirror, “It’s too early for us to say anything about the documentary.”
Jiah Khan was born in the US and raised in London. After debuting with Amitabh Bachchan, she went on working with Aamir Khan in Ghajini which was a blockbuster. She committed suicide at the age of 25 by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Mumbai.
Post Jiah’s death, Sooraj Pancholi was under controversy as he was the last person to see her. He was arrested on June 10, 2013. On July 2 the same year, the HC had granted him bail. After a petition seeking transfer was filed by Rabia, the case was transferred to the CBI in July 2014. After the transfer, the investigation agency refused to charge Pancholi with murder charges, Jiah’s mother Rabia claimed.
However, Rabia has been pressing for applying a serious charge of murder under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Pancholi. However, the agency has charged Pancholi with abetment to suicide.
