Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana from Jharkhand, reported PTI.
The healthcare scheme will cover over 10 crore people, who will be provided a health insurance worth Rs 5 lakh each, every year, said the report.
The Prime Minister is also expected to visit an exhibition based on the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in Ranchi, said a statement from the PMO. A demonstration of activities such as beneficiary identification and e-card creation will be presented before the Prime Minister there.
The scheme will be launched by the PM on Sunday itself but it will become effective from September 25, which is the birth anniversary of Jan Sangh co-founder Denndayal Upadhyay.
The report claimed that as many as 27 States and Union Territories are ready to join the healthcare scheme. More than 15,000 hospitals, both government and public have expressed their willingness to be enrolled under the scheme. The scheme reportedly aims to cover the health insurance of over 10.74 crore families.
Mr Modi will also inaugurate 10 health centres and lay the foundation for medical colleges at Chalibasa and Koderma at the same event.
