Jharkhand mob lynching: Mentally unstable man thrashed after killing three
On Saturday, a mortifying instance of mob lynching occured in the Gumla district of Jharkhand where in a mentally unstable man hacked three persons, a woman and her two children; a minor and an infant to death before he was lynched by the villagers of whom two were injured by the man in police sources said.
“The accused, identified as Chotu Munda, who was stated to be mentally unsound, hacked to death 45-year-old woman Bhandain Mundain, her three-year-old son Bipin and a month-old daughter Bibiyani with a dagger without any provocation,” police informed.
The villagers, aghast and angsty, gathered assembled around the spot in large numbers and caught hold of the accused and beat him to death, sources added.
Sudama Choudhary, officer-in-charge of Palkot Police station, said Chotu went on to also injure two people, the victim woman’s husband Krishna Munda and a villager Sukhdeo Munda, who were then rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Sudama Choudhary received information about the incident and along with a police force, rushed to the village to investigate the incident.
Questions were also raised about the squabble being about a land dispute which Sudama Choudhary downright denied and said the accused was mentally unsound.
The police then informed that the bodies were recovered and will further be sent for post-mortem.
Another mob lynching that occured in the tribal-dominated Dahod district of Gujarat where one person died on the spot and another was grievously injured after a mob beat up the two suspected robbers on Saturday night, July 29.
Prior to that 28-year-old Rakbar Khan was allegedly lynched to death in Alwar merely on the suspicion of smuggling cows.
