Fortnite content creator Jarvis Kaye has been permanently banned from Fornite. This decision from Epic Games came after Jarvis uploaded videos that saw him using aimbots in solo and playground mode. Kaye has nearly 2 million subscribers on YouTube and about a 600,000 on Twitch. He explained the situation and apologized for his actions through an emotional YouTube video.
“I’m not sure how many of you know this, but I’ve actually been banned on Fortnite for life,” he said. “Recently, I’ve posted some videos of me using aimbot in solos and playground mode. All I was thinking about while making those videos is how entertaining and like interesting these videos would be for you guys to watch. It didn’t even cross my mind I could be banned for life from Fortnite for this.” Kaye added that he did not use the aimbots in a competitive mode.
He also took to tweet to talk about the incident. The FaZe clan creator says he will remain thankful to Fortnite for changing his life despite the unfortunate incident.
“I’m going to take accountability for my actions and I understand completely why this has happened, I just wish I had known how severe the consequences were at the time and I would have never thought about doing it. I love all of you who still support me, this is not the end.”
Although the video was posted from an alternative account, Epic Games has still decided to ban Jarvis Kay permanently for violating the game’s term of service.
Gaming Community torn on Jarvis Kaye ban
The gaming community is torn in its reaction towards the news. While some agree with Epic’s decision, others argue that it is too harsh a judgement for a first time infraction.
A number of fellow Fortnite players expressed their dissent about the decision with the hashtag #freejarvis to get Epic to reverse its decision.
A lot of Jarvis Kaye supporters are using the example of professional gamer Damion “XXiF” C. Epic handed him a two week suspension after finding him farming kills. The gamer was still able to compete in the finals after his suspension.
Epic Games, however, hasn’t showed any inclination of going back on its decision yet.
