Security forces on Friday killed two unidentified terrorists in a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. An Army jawan was martyred during the gun battle.
After receiving a specific input about the presence of three terrorists, the troopers of Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police jointly launched a cordon-and-search operation in Malganipora area of Sopore in Baramulla district.
The holed-up terrorists were challenged by the troopers after which an encounter started. Two terrorists were eliminated. However, the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists are yet to be known. An Army jawan Lance Naik Brajesh Kumar lost his life during an encounter between security forces and terrorists.
The encounter comes hours after another army jawan was martyred in a sniper fire by terrorists in Tral area of South Kashmir. Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack on a camp of the 42 Rashtriya Rifles.
On Thursday, at least six terrorists were eliminated by security forces in two separate encounters that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla and Anantnag. While two were killed in Baramulla, four killed in Anantnag.
Previously, security forces gunned down at least two terrorists in Nowgam village located on the outskirts of Srinagar.
