Jammu and Kashmir: At least two unidentified terrorists eliminated

Security forces eliminated two unidentified terrorists in a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Security forces on Thursday early morning eliminated two unidentified terrorists in a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter spot.

After receiving a specific input about the presence of 2-3 terrorists, the troopers of Indian Army, Special Operations group of state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Zugoo Arizal area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The holed-up terrorists were challenged by the troopers after which an encounter started. Two terrorists were eliminated. Security forces had also recovered two AK 47 rifles and other incriminating materials from the site of the encounter. However, the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists were not immediately known. The operation is concluded.

This comes at least two days after security forces neutralised two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists including Usman Haider, the nephew of the terror outfit’s chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his close aide, after a fierce encounter that took place in South Kashmir.

In last week, security forces killed two unidentified terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. An Army jawan was martyred during the gun battle.

Over 160 terrorists have been killed in Kashmir since January. A total of 213 were killed last year.
