Jammu & Kashmir: Security forces gunned down two terrorists in Sopore
Security forces gunned down two unidentified terrorists in an overnight encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore district. The arms and ammunition along with bodies of two terrorists were recovered from the encounter site.
After receiving credible information, the Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the troopers of 179 Battalion of CRPF, Special Operation Group (SOG), 22 RR, CRPF Range Quick Action Team launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Brath Kalan area of Sopore in Baramulla district. In a fierce gun battle, two terrorists were shot dead. The operation is currently underway.

The identity and the group affiliation of the killed terrorist are yet to be known. Talking to media, the police spokesperson stated that no collateral damage took place during the encounter.
Earlier, two terrorists including the one who was involved in the murder of Kashmiri journalist Shujaat Bukhari were killed in an encounter in valley’s Budgam district. One of the killed terrorists was identified as Naveed Jatt, who is said to have played a role in Bhukari’s assassination.
It is to be noted that security forces have killed 233 terrorists till November 30 this year in the valley, much higher than the total count of 213 last year.
