Security forces on Thursday nabbed two terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Several arms and explosives were also recovered from the possession of the arrested terrorists.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police apprehended a Tavera car, in which the terrorists were travelling. Two AK-56 rifles, two magazines, 60 rounds and four hand grenades were seized from their possession.

According to sources, the terrorists were part of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit. The arrested terrorists were identified as Auqib Ahmad Bhat and Shabir Ahmad Dar, both hailing from Pulwama district of south Kashmir. A case has been registered and the police are investigating as to what plan the terrorists wanted to execute.

It is to be noted that Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested two terrorists affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit in Pulwama district. This comes at least four days after two unidentified terrorists were killed when the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector.

Previously, two terrorists were gunned down on Saturday early morning in a fierce encounter that took place in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter spot.
