Security forces on Tuesday early morning gunned down two terrorists belong to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter spot.
After receiving a specific input about the presence of an unspecified number of terrorists, the troopers of Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Safnagri area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The holed-up terrorists were challenged by the troopers after which an encounter started. Two terrorists were eliminated and indiscriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter. The operation is concluded and no collateral damage reported.
The slain terrorists have been identified as Mohammad Idrees Sultan alias Chota Abrar, a resident of Safanagri Shopian and Amir Hussain Rather alias Abu Sobaan, a resident of Awneera Shopian. They were affiliated with Pakistan based terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. According to the sources, a soldier who recently joined Hizbul Mujahideen was among two terrorists killed in an encounter.
Last week, security forces eliminated two unidentified terrorists in a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district. Previously, two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists including Usman Haider, the nephew of the terror outfit’s chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his close aide were killed after a fierce encounter that took place in South Kashmir.
It is to be noted that over 160 terrorists have been killed in Kashmir since January. A total of 213 were killed last year.
