Security forces on Thursday killed four unidentified terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The arms and ammunition along with the body of slain terrorists were recovered from the encounter site.
After receiving a specific input about the presence 3-4 terrorists, the troopers of Indian Army, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police jointly launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Nadigam village of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The holed-up terrorists were challenged by the troopers after which an encounter started. The counter-terror operation was concluded after 4 terrorists were gunned down. The identity of slain terrorists is yet to be ascertained. One Army Jawan martyred in operation.
The Valley has been witnessing a spurt in terror activities for the past few months. On November 18, two terrorists associated with terror outfit Al-Badr were killed in an encounter in Rebban area of Shopian district. On the same day, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan lost his life after terrorists opened fire on a CRPF camp at Railway Colony in Pulwama’s Kakapora area.
Previously, security forces eliminated two terrorists belong to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The slain terrorists were identified as Mohammad Idrees Sultan alias Chota Abrar, a resident of Safanagri Shopian and Amir Hussain Rather alias Abu Sobaan, a resident of Awneera Shopian.
