Two terrorists including the one who was involved in the murder of Kashmiri journalist Shujaat Bukhari were killed in an ongoing encounter in valley’s Budgam district. One of the militants is identified as Naveed Jatt, who is said to have played a role in Bhukari’s assassination.
According to reports, the gunbattle between the militants and security forces broke out in Chattergam village of Budgam after security forces launched a search operation. As the forces were zeroing in on target house, militants opened fire triggering the encounter. The authorities have suspended internet services in Budgam as a precautionary measure.
On November 27, three militants and an army jawan were killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral and Kulgam district.
An encounter erupted when a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and paramilitary forces cordoned off Redwani village in Kulgam after specific inputs on the presence of militants late Monday night. As searches were underway, the militants fired on the forces, who retaliated, resulting in the death of two LeT militants and an army jawan.
