A day ahead of panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir, at least 3 civilians were reportedly abducted by unidentified miscreants in Sadpora Payeen area of the highly volatile Shopian district. The incident took place on Friday.
According to the media reports, the civilians, identified as Farooq Ahmad, Shahid Ahmad and Raja, were abducted from a bakery shop in Sadpora Payeen village. While 2 are residents of Shopian, the other one is from Kulgam district. It is to be noted that the search operations by the security forces are underway to trace them all.
On Friday, a teenager, Nadeem Manzoor, who was also abducted from Shopian was killed in neighbouring Pulwama district. The Police Media Centre issued a statement informing about the ‘abduction and killing of a civilian’ Nadeem Manzoor of Safanagri, Shopian by terrorists in Pulwama district.
“Terrorists in the intervened night forcibly abducted a civilian and later killed him in a brutal act of terror at Pulwama. Civilian has been identified as Nadeem Manzoor of Safanagri Shopian,” read the statement.
Previously, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two terrorists affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit in Pulwama district. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the arrested terrorists. The case has been registered against the due and further investigation is underway.
