Jammu & Kashmir: 9-year-old girl gangraped by brother and killed by mother

A 9-year-old girl on Tuesday was allegedly brutally gang-raped and killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The five people including her stepmother, stepbrother have been arrested for committing a crime.

The 9-year-old girl was missing since August following which her father, who lives in Uri filed a missing complaint, Baramulla Superintendent of Police Imtiaz Hussain Mir told Deccan Chronicle. While the minor’s decomposed body was found nearby forest area, and it appeared to be a murder case.

According to the Police the investigation is underway by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), “the SIT interrogated the suspects and during sustained questioning of the stepmother of the deceased, a bone-chilling and horrible account of murder and rape of the nine-year-old child came to light,” Mir quoted.

“It was found that the stepmother had been harbouring a long-standing grudge against her husband’s second wife and her children, and the girl was the dearest to him, during the interrogation, her stepmother revealed that saying, he would spend his most of the time with his second wife,” he said.

The minor’s stepmother hatched a conspiracy to kill her dearest daughter, she took the minor to a forest area and took a sharp-edged knife along with her. Apart from her stepmother, her 14-year-old step brother along with his friends joined and gang-raped, and brutally killed.”

“The SSP said the girl was gang-raped by the accused in presence of her stepmother. They all took turns to rape her and thereafter her stepmother strangulated her,” Mir told Deccan Chronicle.

While revealing more information about the brutality Mir said,  “While the stepmother strangulated her, the step-brother hit her head with an axe. Another accused gouged out her eyes with a sharp knife and then sprinkled acid on her body parts. Physical condition and preliminary forensic analysis of the body substantiated all these facts”.

After that, “they dumped the minor’s body in bushes and covered it with twigs and branches of pine trees. All the material and weapons of offence, including the axe and the knife, have been recovered at the instance of the accused. All the accused have been arrested,” the police officer said.
