Jammu and Kashmir: 3 militants killed in encounter
Security forces on Sunday have shot down three terrorists in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was launched after a J&K policeman Salem Ahmed Shah was kidnapped and killed on Saturday. According to the police, one of the suspect killed in the encounter is a Pakistani national. The operation is still on and security forces engaged in the action suspect that more terrorists could be hiding inside the area.
Shah, a resident of Kulgam, was on leave and abducted in the same fashion Aurangzeb was kidnapped and killed by the terrorists. Shah was undergoing a training in Kathua. The encounter is taking place in Kulgam’s Khudwani, about 70 km from Srinagar, where Central Reserve Police Force along with the army and the state police are engaged with the terrorists.
Based on the intelligence inputs, a search operation was launched after which the encounter is taking place by the security forces. As per the reports, the search operation turned to become an encounter soon after the terrorists opened fire at them. The entire area has been cordoned and mobile internet has been snapped in Kulgam and Anantnag of the Valley.
Informing about the encounter, a police officer said, “As the cordon was tightened, hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering an encounter.”
In last couple of months, South Kashmir has become a hub of terror activities and police personnel returning to home or on leave are becoming a prey to these abduction and killings by the terrorists.
