The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday seemed to have adopted a new strategy to nab real stone pelters by sending their own men disguised as stone pelters near the historic Jama Masjid downtown.
According to the report, following the Friday prayer, a mob began pelting stones at Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF Jawans but there was no retaliation from opposite side and not a single teargas shell was lobbed or baton charged by the police.
As the mob expanded to more than 100 people and two people from the mob started leading the stone pelters mob and agitation, the first teargas shell was lobbed at the swelled mob to disperse.
However, to the surprise of the two stone pelters, who were leading the mob were caught by law enforcing force covertly placed in the crowd and whisked away in waiting vehicles. According to the report, “The policemen, who disguised as stone pelters, brandished toy guns to scare others while the duo was taken to the police station.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s new strategy worked and the stone pelters ended their protest early today as they were unfamiliar with the police strategy. This was not the first time when Law enforcing force adopted the technique of implanting their men among the stone pelters.
This strategy was earlier implemented in 2010 when numbers of policemen were deployed in the mob to identify and arrested stone pelters in the area.
