Four soldiers and a junior commissioned officer(JCO)were killed in an encounter with terrorists. The encounter broke out between the security forces and militants in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As reported by sources to Indian Express, The operation was launched in the early hours of Monday in a village close to DKG in Surankote. It was undertaken following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists there.
Sources added, The hiding ultras opened heavy fire on the search parties resulting in critical injuries to a JCO and four other ranks. All five soldiers succumbed to their injuries.
Earlier today, two terrorists were killed and a policeman was injured during encounters in Anantnag and Bandipore districts. In another encounter, a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was killed.
Meanwhile, another encounter was underway in Chamrer forests along the Mughal Road in Poonch. Three to four militants are suspected to be trapped in the area. Reinforcements of police and security forces have been rushed to the area.
