India’s dominance in the ongoing ISSF World Championship continued with Ankur Mittal’s gold medal in the men’s double trap on Saturday.
Mittal shot 140 out of 150 to head into the shoot-off with China’s Yiang Yang and Hubert Andzrej of Slovakia. Mittal eventually edged past China’s Yiang Yang 4-3 to bag the top prize as Andrzej settled for the bronze after missing his second shoot-off clay.
There also was team bronze in store for Mittal who claimed it alongside Md Asab and Shardul Vihaan. The trio’s tally of 409 points handed them the third place behind China (410) and Italy (411).
Meanwhile, Anjum Moudgil and Manu Bhaker failed to make the finals of the women’s 50m rifle and women’s 25 m pistol respectively.
Moudgil whose silver-winning performance in the 10m air rifle fetched her a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics finished ninth by shooting in the women’s 50m rifle categories. Bhaker on the other hand shot 684 to settle for a tenth-place finish. Only the top-eight qualify for the final.
