ISL 5: ATK, Goa play out a thrilling yet barren draw
Two-time champions ATK were held to a goalless draw by FC Goa at the Salt Lake stadium on Wednesday. The draw meant both ATK and Goa held on to their respective places and while the visitors are now just two points behind table leaders Bengaluru FC, who are on 19 points, ATK after three wins and an equal number of draws and losses are at sixth with 12 points from nine games.
Both sides had enough opportunities to influence the outcome of the match but while Everton Santos and Manuel Lanzarote squandered easy chances for the home team, Goa had Seriton Fernandes, Mourtada Fall and Ferran Corominas find the side netting from close range.
Of those three, first-two came inside the opening 15 minutes for Goa, while Corominas – league’s joint top-scorer – was kept quiet by a stiff ATK defence.
