Pacer Ishant Sharma joined an elite list of bowlers with his inspiring performance against Australia on the second day of the first Test in Adelaide on Friday.
The lanky pacer got rid of Aaron Finch in the very first over by rattling the furniture behind him and also dismissed Australian captain Tim Paine after tea to join a list of elite Indian bowlers to have taken 50 wickets against Australia.
With Paine’s dismissal, Ishant thus scalped his 50th wicket against the Aussies and sits behind the legendary Zaheer Khan and Kapil Dev. Dev, who took 79 wickets tops the list and is followed by Zaheer who has 61 wickets. Ishant has 50 dismissals to his name and is third in the list.

He is followed by Umesh Yadav who has taken 42 wickets against the Australians. One of the most memorable spells that he bowled against the Australians was during the 200-2009 tour when he troubled none other than the great Ricky Ponting.
His Test average against the Aussies is just less than 45.
