Is Justin Bieber the reason why Fjadrárgljúfur canyon in Iceland is closed?
While masses think this way, environment minister has some different views
In 2015, Justin Bieber’s music video ‘I’ll Show You’ as a part of the album ‘Purpose’ had released. The video had been shot in Iceland’s Fjadrárgljúfur canyon. Ever since we saw the lush greens and the waterfalls, all have been wanting to visit the place.
The video got the canyon too many visitors. Now that there are too many visitors, the delicate terrain is threatened with too many visitors and climatic transformations. The masses saw the singer roll in the grass, spend time in the glacier water bodies. Even they wish to have that.
The number of visitors has increased because of this video. But the Environment Minister Gudmundur Ingi Gudbrandsson says that “it would be too simplistic to blame the entire situation on Justin Bieber.” He continues “Rash behavior by one famous person can dramatically impact an entire area if the mass follows…. In Justin Bieber’s defense, the canyon did not, at the time he visited, have rope fences and designated paths to show what was allowed and what not”. Now the Canyon stays closed for most of the year except five weeks.
But the people hop over fences and offer bribes to the people there. The best form of bribe is home cooked food for the locals.
Here is the music video.
