Iran issues arrest warrant for Donald Trump over killing of top general

Iran has issued an arrest warrant against Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America. Tehran has accused Donald Trump over the killing of its top military officer, General Qassem Soleimani. Not only Trump 30 others too have been accused of ‘murder’ and ‘terrorism’. Iran has also sought Interpol’s help in detaining Trump.

General Soleimani, the leader of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, was killed with a drone strike in Iraq on January 3. Washington accused Soleimani of masterminding attacks by Iranian-aligned militias on US forces in the region.

ISNA news agency reported, Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr said that Trump, along with more than 30 others Iran accuses of involvement in the January 3 attack that killed General Qassem Soleimani, face “murder and terrorism charges”

Alqasimehr said that Iran had requested Interpol to issue a “red notice” be put out for Trump and the others. It is the highest-level notice issued by Interpol. It seeks the location and arrest of the individual named.

Ali Alqasimehr added that Iran would continue to pursue the matter after Trump’s time in office ends.

Interpol based in Lyon, France, said in a statement that its constitution forbade it to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character. So if any such request is sent Interpol would not consider it.

Iran had retaliated the killing of Soleimani with a missile strike targeting American troops in Iraq. This had brought America and Iran to the brink of armed conflict.
