IPL 2021 has been hit hard by the coronavirus even before its commencement. Most of the management officials, staff members at the Wankhede Stadium, also cricketers, the likes of Axar Patel and Nitish Rana have tested positive for coronavirus. Now RCB’s all-rounder Daniel Sams has also tested coronavirus positive.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams has tested positive for COVID-19. The news was shared by the franchise on Wednesday (April 7).
“Official Statement: Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3rd, with a negative COVID report on arrival. His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility,” the RCB statement read.
Sams is the second RCB player to test positive after Devdutt Padikkal. However, Padikkal has joined the team after a negative report in the latest test.
RCB will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on Friday, April 9.
