India is currently dealing with the Coronavirus-led crises. Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal and few other regions have contributed with the highest number of cases in the second wave. Over the last few weeks, the cases recorded a massive spike, making it the highest spike ever since the pandemic hit India. Few players have also tested positive for COVID-19 recently. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The decision commenced after many staff including the players have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to IPL Governing Council members, the decision was taken after Amit Mishra and Wriddhiman Saha too tested positive on Tuesday. Multiple BCCI officials and the franchises too confirmed the development.
For the unversed, Two members of the Chennai Super Kings’ IPL bowling coach-L Balaji, and a bus cleaner have tested positive for Covid-19. CEO Kasi Viswanathan’s second report came out negative last night. However, Balaji and the team driver continued to be positive.
