Delhi Capitals fast bowler Anrich Nortje has tested positive for Covid-19. It is a big blow to DC ahead of their game against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. DC’s premier pacer Anrich Nortje has tested positive for coronavirus while in quarantine.
Nortje and Kagiso Rabada were the two players from the Delhi camp who flew in from South Africa after playing against Pakistan.
Anrich Nortje is the second player after allrounder Axar Patel to test positive for coronavirus. Nortje had come with a negative report but has tested positive while undergoing quarantine. He’s asymptomatic at the moment with the results of a further test awaited today.
According to the BCCI SOP for a COVID positive test, the concerned person will have to undergo a 10-day isolation period outside the bio-secure bubble from the first day of symptoms or the date of collection of sample.
Nortje is the second player from the franchise to test positive for the virus. Earlier, Axar Patel returned a positive test ahead of the start of the new season. He continues to remain in quarantine. The DC is facing a number of hurdles in IPL 2021, as apart from Axar and Nortje, first-choice captain Shreyas Iyer, was ruled out of the tournament with a shoulder injury. In his absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is leading the side.
Apart from DC all-rounder Axar, Mumbai Indians’ scout and wicketkeeping consultant Kiran More, as well as RCB’s Daniel Sams and Devdutt Paddikal had tested positive.
